Sick and tired of ppl going to Phoenix and DeVry or ITT tech or Kaplan University or "capella University" only to be duped into paying tens of thousands of dollars for a worthless degree.

No legit company hires ppl with degrees from for-profit schools, so stop going to them. It's a waste of time and money.

It sounds kind of strange to put it this way, but I'd probably take an application more seriously if the only degree listed on it were from Hamburger University (the McDonald's training center).

I don't want to demean people who went there, because it's a legitimate way to get ahead, and people who go to Hamburger University actually learn something about restaurant management. The name is pretty ridiculous, though, enough so that McDonald's even made fun of it in their own commercials. The first time I heard about it, I thought it was a joke.

Nope. University of Phoenix is the real joke.

The whole higher education market is corrupt. You can thank lenders such as Sallie Mae, I mean Navient, for continuing to lobby for greed and corruption.

As someone who taught a summer class once at ITT, you are 100% correct.

No one is getting duped. Also, they are real schools. Just low quality ones.

No idea why someone would go to one of these schools. Generally these are not accredited and you can't transfer to a university. I notice these schools tend to operate in lower income, or "ghetto" areas of towns and cities. They profit selling false hope to that demographic.

Exactly.
It's despicable really.

I wish the government would just shut them down. They're worthless degrees that cost tens of thousands of dollars.
No legit company or organization will hire someone with a degree from "Capella University"

I think we've finally reached the tipping point with the for-profits. The Feds are on to them and the schools are having a harder time circumventing the rules.

Corinthian has filed for bankruptcy and many more are sure to follow with declining enrollments.

It's just too bad it took this long for the house of cards to finally come crashing down on these scum.

Historically, their niche has been providing training for mechanical or technical skills. I think there are companies in printed circuit board assembly or other types of electronic contract manufacture that take new technicians out of ITT, Devry, etc. The jobs don't pay that well to start. I don't think you need more than six to twelve months training at one of these training centers.

Much of the IT work also qualifies as low skill and could be filled using this training.
