The average student debt is a little less than 30k. If one studies a degree like computer science that debt will be gone in no time. The students that struggle are the ones who take out loans to study a major that has little to no return on investment.

College is still worth it if you do it smartly. However, I would suggest caution to anyone considering living on-campus at an out-of-state state school. I would suggest caution to anyone living on campus or away from home in general. If there is a good university near your home, that is what I would recommend.

When you look at costs, tuition is bad, but room and board is extreme.

Anyone who is working can service or pay off their student loans. The problem is when the graduate either doesn't get work, or only gets minimum wage work.

Btw divorce rates are much higher and marriage rates lower for people with lower levels of income and education.
Not true at all since there are more people in that boat. It's just the opposite. Divorce is higher and marriage rates are lower for well off people.

Not in the US.
Marriage and divorce: patterns by gender, race, and educational attainment : Monthly Labor Review: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
"Men and women who did not complete high school were less likely to marry than were men and women with more education.
The chance of a marriage ending in divorce was lower for people with more education, with over half of marriages of those who did not complete high school having ended in divorce compared with approximately 30 percent of marriages of college graduates."
