I'm a transfer student. I went to a community college to get my AA, and graduated with a 4.0.
I just finished my first semester at a public state university, and finished with a 3.06 (I made the mistake of assuming I could balance 5 classes and still work as much as I did when I was at my community college. I already talked to my supervisor and cut my hours, so I'll have more time to dedicate to studying).
Now the summer leaderships for firms are starting to open, and some have a minimum 3.3 gpa requirement.
So my question is, do I still have a chance of getting them, seeing as my cumulative gpa is ~3.7 (combining my cc and uni classes). Or will they see my university gpa is a 3.06 and dismiss me.
Also, how should I list my gpa on my resume?
On my unofficial transcripts, it has my cc gpa of 4.0, my university gpa of 3.06, and my overall gpa of ~3.7. Should I just list all three of them on my resume?
I've seen people on other forums say that listing you're cumulative gpa is misleading, but seeing as it's actually on my unofficial transcript, firms will be able to see it for themselves.
No, I haven't graduated yet. I'm about to start my second semester as a junior (78 credits, taking 15 credits next semester). And as far as I know, at my college, you can't retake a class once you receive a passing grade.
I would list both. Don't just shoot for Big 4. There are thousands of opportunities at slightly smaller firms that will give you a fruitful and happy career that will probably last longer than at the Big 4. I have two internships, one at BKD and the other at CLA which are both well ranked and growing firms. If you can get into one of those with an internship, it will give you a better opportunity to gain another internship, possibly with the Big 4.
