Hi all, so it's been awhile since I've been here and thought to get some opinions. I've finished my associates degree at a community college and switched to a four year within the past year. I was in a library related field but decided that I wanted to switch out. Only thing is I'm not sure if a broader field like communications would be a better choice versus something like media informatics. I'm closer to getting my general studies done but I'm not sure if I want that or just pick something else. Honestly, I just want to be done but I want to be able to find work after graduating. I've been in school for roughly five years (took a year off to do some traveling) and I just want to get out.
So which would be the better option, a broader field like communications or general studies? Or something specified like web design or something.
Same question I ask everyone: What do you want to do? Not what do you want to study, but what do you want to do to make a living? Begin with the end in mind and work backward from there. Once you know what you want to do, you can decide what degree's, internships, whatever give the best path toward that. Then look at your talents and see which degrees line up to build a path from where you are to where you want to be. A college education is a tool to get you where you want to be, not an end goal in itself.
