Liberals love their ice cream, OP.

But for the record, I'm more of a froyo guy.

After touring colleges with my son during the last year (we visited #1, #2, #3, and #8 on the list!), I was struck by how much emphasis was put on the campus ice cream shops during the admission tours. Nearly every school told us they had the best ice cream. I hadn't realized ice cream was of such primary importance to college students. I should maybe start a thread on odd things I found out on college tours...

I remember the Penn State (#2 on the list) tour guide talked for 10 minutes about all their great ice cream shops and how many presidents had eaten ice cream there! And then they ended the tour at the ice cream shop so we could all buy some. Some great ice cream marketing at that campus!

p.s. My son applied to 3 of these top ice cream schools, so maybe the ice cream shop marketing works!

Most colleges don't make their own ice cream. It is generally only land grant universities with agricultural colleges but not all of them do.

For example, as far as I know, Auburn and Virginia Tech don't make their own ice cream despite being land grant universities.

Some other universities that make their own ice cream but not on the list are NC State, UGA, Miss State, and I believe Kansas State.

Great list! I'd like to add Bennington College in Vermont. Wonderful ice cream bar and all Ben and Jerry's.

The best ice cream I have ever had or will ever have again was in the 1970s when I would go to the UVM Dairy Bar with my mom and brother and sister. The UVM School of Agriculture, I believe, operated the bar and that ice cream was just so unbelievably creamy and delicious. Sorry to all those missed out on that ice cream.

Ahem, the number #1 on the list, Clemson, is not a liberal university!

(At least, as far as universities go).

Clemson definitely has a lot of far left professors and faculty but this topic is about ice cream and everybody likes ice cream.
