Looking for any interesting summer program for rising college freshman, either in the U.S. or abroad. DD is looking for a more serious experience (would like it to include community service, discussion of global issues etc. ) , not just focused on tourism. Does not have to include academic credit but that would be a bonus! Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Pam

Check her college. My daughters college has several programs for those entering freshmen who'd like a few weeks of pre college (for lack of a better term) that includes research and community service. Hers may have something similar.

There's likely lots of opportunities. Look local or in your nearest college town. I spent my summer between junior and senior year in high school volunteering with the construction of a soil testing laboratory in Managua, Nicaragua. This was a few years ago but I don't think the dynamic has changed that much. I volunteered for the organization for a while locally and then was able to go down with them for severeal months prior to my senior year. But they needed to know me a little ahead of time to know I had the maturity to make the trip on my own, etc.

Here you go! https://www.coolworks.com/

I think the coolest job I knew of was from friends of my sons who worked at a dude ranch in Wyoming. We're from Pennsylvania, so that was pretty out there!
