But I have been taking more than just a peek. It is indeed taking shape or coming.

Yes, this idea has been written about in science fiction for many decades. However, as technology progresses, this idea is becoming a science fact.

Like in the 19th century, the author Jules Verne wrote about man travelling to the moon. Complete fantasy at the time. Then came the Apollo program and Neil Armstrong...

He's got a point. Not everyone should go into a STEM field. And they could become glutted if everyone does.

You can major in a social science (for me it was poli sci) and combined with with good electives (accounting , marketing , stats) , a working knowledge of economics , good writing skills (speaking skills can't hurt either)and some internships and you will be fine.

Really? Unemployment is at its lowest rate in decades, despite more technology now than decades ago.

Of course Unemployment figures have been FALLING since 2009... Course National and Internation spin by GOP ( one term President talking points) continually said.. BUT BUT.. those numbers mean nothing> ie> Many NOT returning to market.. or Many forced to take lower level jobs.. or Number's don't reflect whatever.. SO in OTHER WORDS Meant NADDA!!

So now... What has changed.. Many are working jobs that are low level jobs than preciously held.. and MOST have MORE than ONE job in order to make ends meet!!

Bottom line.. middle to lower level working class have NOT elevated in to that " American Dream.. COL for most has elevated FAR FAR beyond wage increases.. SO between you and me.. Stock Market and job unemployment doesn't equate to anything close to anybody beyond those upper 2-5% who happen to feel better!!

I shutter to believe that those who are doing well, somehow FORGET ( don't Give a CARE) about those that exist day to day.. and still wonder why THEY still feel " LEFT BEHIND!"???

Mark. C has lucked out and prospered .. and did come up from the "Literal Bottom of the barrel".. yet these want's to claim their POTUS was successful.. bankruptcies aside.. but got bailed out by his DADDY and scammed companies on contracts.. Sorry.. Art of THAT deal isn't kosher .. Lying one's way into profits pretty soon embitters loaners of Money to back ventures.. THUS Russian $$$$$ has entered DJT's political rhelm for decades... SHOCK.. NOPE.. but his Campaign and so far WH has don't zero to discredit wheat's been obvious for decades!!

DJT has taken credit for all that he inherited by previous administration.. BUT unfortunately his agenda has halted execrations... in fact.. Sidewise Market is happening... Job market reflects low rate that has been about that prior to taking office.. Smart investors will hedge free]ty well everything with Stop/Putts in order to BAIL if DJY put's yet another FOOT into his mouth/Tweet!!

Grassroots , when comes to Liberal Arts will not go away ( in fact flourish).. andhas zero connection to GOP, WH and Congress to date!! Cuban, gives zero Hoots .. It's MasterDJT who seems to need kudo's on a daily/hourly basis to feel validated .. Mark C> not so much

^^You completely missed my point. Sci-fi writers have been saying for a century or more that at least the upper classes will not work any more. Yet almost everyone is working! Unemployment is lower among the highly educated than among those with lesser education.

Unemployment right now has nothing to do with it. We are nowhere near full automation yet. When most jobs start to get automated, that is where we will see the unemployment go up.

Been hearing that for a few decades now, too.

You are correct, we have been hearing about this for a while. But the technology has not existed to make this happen. It was always wishful thinking and an attempt to scare workers that their jobs are going to be automated.

However, the technology is progressing to the point that full automation is becoming a reality. What is not known is how fast workers are going to be displaced and when full automation will actually happen. Will it take 20 years or 200 years? No one knows, but that day will come. An interesting question is who is going to buy the goods and services that are going to be produced by the computers, robots, and other machines if everyone is unemployed?
