An MBA can be two things: a valuable credential, if it's from a recognized, name university only, or knowledge you apply on the job - giving you the language and methodology of various business functions. My MBA was from a top 10 place, but in my career, I think the knowledge was more helpful, specifically my knowledge of finance, accounting and business statistics. For me, the softer courses like marketing, strategy and such weren't as useful. I should add that I earned my MBA after I did a PhD and postdoc in virology, so my career was on the science business interface. I was often in a "translator" role.
Fitchburg State is a typical regional state university. Its MBA program is probably equivalent to others at similar colleges around the country. If you can, ask them to put you in contact with alumni. They will give you honest answers.
Edit: Looks like you've already started. Stick with it!
Thank you all for your replies! I read each and every one of them. I’ve now taken my first class at Fitchburg and I like it very much. It’s very manageable alongside my medical studies, and I should be finished prior to graduating from medical school!
If anyone, who has managed to stumble upon this thread, would like to know more just comment and I’ll get back to you.
Hello,
I’ve read through your thread and see you decided to start at Fitchburg. I hope it’s still going well. I have a few questions on how the class structure and testing. Is there live classes (seminars) that have to be attended? Also, what are the test like? Are they proctored by ProctorU or something similar? If so, is the fee covered or payed for by the student each time? I’ve had it both ways. Overall, would you recommend it? Thanks for your time.
I’m also considering Fitchburg state, can you share more of your experience? What are the classes like? We can certainly link up via email christopherisibor@gmail.com. Thanks!
It's 2019. One would think that people would stop making the mistake of thinking that all online programs are unaccredited. There are thousands of accredited schools offering online programs. Even some Ivy League schools and Stanford offer online programs. Some of the highest-ranking business schools offer online MBAs.
This is not accurate. Stanford does not offer an online MBA, nor do any of the Ivys.
Maybe I should say for point of clarification, Stanford does not offer an online MBA, nor do any of the Ivys.
There you go
But underneath the top 10 or so there are good options.
