Anyways, I am leaving Chicago hopefully. I don't dislike it (or the suburbs) but Madison is only two hours away and just fits me much better in every way possible.

I like Madison... but I like Chicago better.
Watch out though, Madision doesn't seem to like to plow their streets. The one time I went it was a snowy mess.

Earned my BA in Geography from GWU in 2006, and am now working in the GIS field. Lot's of GIS positions out there that pay well for recent graduates, but I dont think GIS could be considered a life-long career path.
The amazing thing with studying geography is you are exposed to so many fields, so you can figure out what really interests you, whether it be one topic or multiple issues you are passionate about. Find out what it is that gets your brain ticking, and pursue it.
You can find a great job after college, and a geography degree is very respectable. Geographers get asked a lot of questions because they are usually excellent sources of intuitive insight. Good luck!

I have a BS in Geography from Penn State and currently work as a GIS Analyst at a regional planning agency. I liked my undergrad program and would recommend it to others. PSU is a large school but the Geography program is fairly small and you pretty much get to know everyone.
I'm currently going to the University of Denver for a Master's in Information and Communication Technology. I'm interested in web mapping applications and this degree sort of focuses on web programming and communications.
