It has been 3 years now and I have not yet gotten my degree. I had to move due to family issues and not all my credits went with me. I should have it May '09. I'm not even sure if this degree was even worth the wait, because chances are I will have to get a BA to get a decent job in Business Administration. But, for my BA, I am hoping to go to college on-line.
It really doesn't matter, as long as you are doing what you need to do to move on to get your BA (By the way, just take classes that will transfer, you don't need to get the full on AA)
I'm 51, and still going to college on-line. Be aware that many on-line college degrees are not accredited and some employers will not accept it. Investigate the college. Some on-line colleges recruit "teachers" to work from home, without much supervision. It's never too late, but spend your time and money wisely!
It took me three years (full time) to get mine, but I couldn't afford to transfer to a four year school, so I'm going back to the community college for another year. In just this one year I can get 3 additional associates degrees, all of which mean next to nothing. Oh well, at least I have SOMETHING to show for it...lol
Mine is supposed to take 2 years if it takes longer than that then i'll just settle for the diploma program and try and get work with it, i hate being out of work and living at home for 2 years let alone even longer.
I actually never received my AA. I was at the CC for 3 yrs because of fear to take a math. Anyways im at a 4yr now. Guess what class I have at 8am-12pm on mondays?
More and more cc's are starting partnerships with universities so they can offer degrees. That could be an option if you cannot afford a 4yr.

Look into CLEP test . You pay from $30 up and you take a Final type test.
If you pass you get 3 college credits if you fail you simply lose the money its not counted on GPA.
Most colleges allow 9 to 15 credits in CLEP test .
Not all subjects are covered but its worth looking at and every college offers it they just dont offer the info you have to ask.
I took CLEP in Spanish 1&2 ,1 history and 1 math saved me 1 semester . Well ,tad less as it was 12 credits .
The Math was a guessing game near the end of the exam and I past by 1.5 points lol.
I would highly suggest that you get a bachelors rather than an associates in business. I would also suggest that you choose a major like accounting or finance as those are the two majors most likely to get you a job. I can't imagine an associates in business being much better than not having a degree at all. Associates generally speaking is only worth while in technical fields.
I don't think any education is ever wasted, so I would encourage you to continue your education. Concentrate on the end result not the time it takes to get there. Anything worth having is worth working for and you are doing just that. Stay the course and good luck!
Sometimes an AA helps as an incentive. You reach that goal and then you move on to a BA or a BS. It feels good to achieve something after all of that work!
