I have heard man good things about Adelaide!
I considered myself lucky to have gone to school there. It has excellent academics (Sandstone Uni and Group of 8 member). The city is easy to navigate (no car needed) with easy access to nice beaches, wine regions and to the outback. I miss living there!

beautiful old buildings, trees, and the South Oval looks gorgeous in the fall and with a dusting of snow (of course, I'm biased, I went there)
But the problem there is that the buildings were generally not designed to complement each other in the same architecutural style like it is with Oklahoma State with its consistent Georgian design of its buildings. You can find pictures of some of the buildings here: http://www.city-data.com/city/Stillwater-Oklahoma.html

One of my favorite campuses I have seen is Rice University in Houston. Its so old and has such beautiful architecture that you just don't see anymore. It has a lot of character and is really well kept up.
