I have been contacted several times by Devry to consider getting my MBA from their Keller Graduate school. Does anyone here have an MBA from Devry? Is the program basically a joke? When I went in for my appointment with an admissions advisor she really tried hard to get me to apply today and she criticized me for wanting to check out other schools. When you go to a real school , they dont try SO hard to sell you on the school. They give you info on their programs and let you decide for yourself. If Devry is supposed to be such a reputable school, then why do they have to pressure you into attending? Doesnt make sense. I have a BS in Marketing from a state school but cant get a job because I didnt intern in school or have any practical experience. I would like to work as a buyer and figure that an MBA would give me an advantage since I have no experience in that field. I work two jobs right now, so it would be hard for me to go to a traditional school to get an MBA.Plus, I hear a lot of MBA grads can't get jobs but I was told that with an MBA and no experience my job search would be easier.

It's a joke. Don't listen to their BS. They get commissions on people who they get to enroll.

Thanks, NYCAnalyst. Thats what I thought. Did you attend one of those schools or know someone that did? I will have to look at some other options. I had a terrible undergrad GPA and I thought a school like those mentioned would be ok for me since they dont require a high GPA or GRE or GMAT testing. I hope I can get in at a traditional school regardless.

They manage to stay in business by tricking people like you.

They have incredibly low overhead. Everything is online - there are no tenured professors making $150K/yr+ like at traditional schools.

All that needs to be done is create the online class - every dollar of revenue that comes in after that is pure profit.

Wrong. Most private schools fall under the 501(c) provision of the United States Internal Revenue Code, which categorizes them as non-profit organizations exempt from some federal income taxes.

The schools that don't qualify are your online schools, amongst others.

You are correct, after further looking into my statement, most privates schools are infact npos. They receive a fair amount of subsidies. From an economic standpoint though, theoretically, a poorly run private university can fail and dissolve whereas a public uni. will always receive the proper funding accordingly. Sorry for doubting ya!

well, Devry is not strictly online. They have campuses all across America so I think they have tenured professors.
