I recently graduated with a bachelor of arts in music composition. My original intent was to continue at the graduate level. I absolutely love playing, writing, teaching (private lessons), and performing music but the life of a contemporary music composer (industry professional, graduate faculty) is not for me. The degree has helped me immensely in becoming a better musician and at the time it was the best degree option for me.

My former university offers a MAT program, but I am contemplating reapplying as an undergrad to complete the requirements for a 2nd bachelors in music education and then moving on to a masters in education with possibly a concentration in counseling or administration. My question is: Would the Master of Arts in Teaching offer the same kind of opportunity for advancement as the Masters in Education?
