For parents of recent college graduates, you may appreciate this: You New College Graduate: A Parents’ Guide : The New Yorker

Here's an excerpt - "What do I feed my college graduate?"

"Most college graduates are vegetarians and will become cranky or upset if offered meat. They also have irregular eating habits. Most prefer to skip family meals, but if you stock the fridge and the cabinets with snacks they will usually be able to find them on their own."

Lol this is great, although mixed in with the humor is a lot of sad truth. Unfortunately right now there are a lot of college grads who are moving back with their parents and avoiding growing up because it's so difficult out there. The part about teaching independence is particularly sad, I mean if you haven't learned it by the time you graduate college then there is a good chance you'll always be living on mom and dad's couch. That's not really the kid's fault, it's the parents' for not doing anything sooner and it will be tough to live with a 22-year old kid who can't take care of themselves.
I am just so glad I will not be moving back with my parents, I definitely could not stand that. It's time for me to have my own life and going to grad school was the best choice for me right now.

So what are you going to grad school for? I assume you have been accepted already.

Yes, I have been accepted already. I'm in the process of moving all of my stuff across the country and into my new place. I'm going to get my Master's in Criminology. I know - not the most lucrative field but nowadays what is? As you might be able to tell from my name I have my B.A. in Sociology, it's not something I intended to study but I really enjoyed those classes and ended up switching from pre-med. I'm hoping to go into research somewhere, maybe for the government or a private research institute, I enjoy doing quantitative work.
