I'm moving to Colorado Springs in September and would love some help deciding where to live. I spent a few days out there after my interview looking at the area. I'll be working at Briargate Pkw, and I spent most of my time looking at apartments on the North side or West near Garden of the Gods. Are there any other areas I should consider?

I'm in my mid 20's, single, and love to road and mountain bike. It would be great to be able to ride over to some mountain bike trails but I'd like to be close to some night life as well.

Downtown would be great, but it doesn't seem like there are many places in terms of rentals. I'd like to avoid a house as I wont be bringing any tools for lawn care and don't care to spend my weekends taking care of a yard. Are there any good resources for finding condos/town homes for rent in the area?

If anyone has experience with any of these apartments I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.
West side:
Camelback Pointe
Spring Canyon
Oasis

North
Champions at Norwood
Resort at University Park
Pine Bluffs
Grand River Canyon

I think we have a thread that discusses some of these places. Try the search tool by using the names of those apartment complexes and you'll certainly hit on that thread. Here's a new place that filled up fast and is really nice, up on Powers at Union.

Well, the only one I know anything about is The Oasis - if you don't like teenagers you might not like it during the school year, because the high schoolers from across the street are sometimes over there. But I've heard from 20-somethings that thought it was a great place.

Mike thanks for the advice. I looked back through the older threads for some more information. I think the Alexan is really nice looking but a bit out of my price range (I forgot to include that in the OP <$1000) and seems to be far removed from the nightlife of the town.

Does anyone know anything about apartments on the Southwest side? (Retreat at Cheyenne Mountain) or the couple of them that are down town?

I once lived in some apartments by Quail Lake. Lots of young active people and you can literally walk out your door to fishing/walking/biking, etc. That would be southwest side.

I haven't moved yet! I just got the confirmation on my clearance and will be giving notice here tomorrow. I plan to fly back out on 9/1 and look at a few more places and make a determination.
