Hey everyone! I am new to this site, but I am trying to get some good feedback on thoughts about Colorado as a good place to relocate to. I live currently with my hubby in Nashville, TN and we want to get to somewhere different with more options and hopefully a little less humidity, shorter summers, and maybe some snow on occasion. I am originally from Upstate NY and do miss it from time to time. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and he is a Quality Assurance Analyst and we are hoping to move in about 2-3 years.

What are some good areas for relocating? We have looked into Colorado Springs as I have heard great things about it. Can anyone give me some insight on taxes (state, property, sales) and some general info that we might need to know? We don't have children and are in our early to mid- 30's. Just looking for honesty...thanks!

Thanks!!!

It all depends what you want if you move here. Do you want a house? How much house do you want? What kind of neighborhood do you want to live in? What kind of activities do you want to do? What kind of work will you find?

Income tax is 4.63%
Sales tax varies, we pay 7.xx% in COLO SPGS
Property tax on a $250k home might be @$1500/year
Cars brought into the state are taxed, but it varies, and IMO not a biggie.

IIRC, COLO is down the list somewhere about 37th in total tax burden and TN is further down, at 47th place. In other words, almost any state you move to will add to your tax bill. But, is it worth a few thousand more per year to live where you really want to live? The last link shows COLO at 48th place in total tax burden on a per capita basis.
