You'll be fine, hundreds of people do this type of move every week. I drove a 25' Penske pulling a trailer from Vegas to COS in April. I went the northern route via I70 and survived LOL. Only issue was a flat tire on the trailer near Glenwood Springs that set us back 3 hours. Road trips are a blast!

Agree with everyone else.... it's not that bad. I drove a uhaul from SD to CO, so while my drive was significantly shorter than yours, it's not too shabby.

Main thing is to drive smart, if you see bad weather or hear of it, pull over and wait until it is safer to drive. Good luck! I was really concerned as we were heading to CO right after the storm around new year's, and it was fine. Well, at least until we hit the ice rink that was I-25, and that was just in Colorado Springs! lol And even then it wasn't bad. Always seems worse in the passenger seat, I think, cause you can't feel the road like you can in the driver's seat.

We just made the trip back from visiting family in CA, went the southern route last week and hit those blizzards in AZ/NM. We holed up in a Motel 6 just off of I40 in Gallup. There are lots of places to get off the Interstate and take shelter, try and plan your trip when the weather will be fair (we didn't have a choice)

Whats up with humidifiers? Some houses have them, is this an important thing to have and why?

The air is very dry out here and many houses have humidifiers attached to their heating units. I have one but only use it on occasion. Most people use them for personal comfort. I find that with all the cooking we do, showers, etc., that the RH level is just fine. When you walk around the house and get shocked repeatedly when touching things is a sign of very dry air.

My son (2 years) and I made the trip back in September.... Again small world as Escondido is our former home. After tons of map studying, we found that the southern route was way more practical. We towed a 16x8 trailer stacked about 8' high with all of our belongings behind a 2 wheel drive Expedition, which was quite the excursion. You will find that the ascent into the mountains is more gradual travelling the southern route, as well as the weather a little bit more mild. We did it safely in two days, staying over in Flagstaff, Arizona.
