I think you will enjoy Colorado Springs. You do have many options coming here. There is an airport in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Denver. So, he could easily commute to any of those. I am not familiar w/ construction management, but you could probably look at our local paper online and see what they have posted there. Gazette.com: Home

There are many GA airports around Denver. Some of the more active are Centennial in south Denver. Adam Aircraft based there. Lots of corporate aircraft and several flight schools. Jeff Co(I think it's called something else now) on the west side of Denver also has several large flight schools and a growing number of corporate a/c. These have the most activity but there are several airports around Denver that have FBO's and flight schools. Look at a sectional and then Google the airports for info.
Colorado Springs has only 1 GA airport, although there is some GA activity at COS. Meadow Lake Airport is on the north east side of Colorado Springs and is pretty quiet. Kind of a country feel with a lot of home-builts and ultralights.
Pueblo has a company that has a contract to screen Air Force pilot candidates. They have transformed the Pueblo Airport from a quiet(dead) to a beehive of activity in a very short time.
PM me if you have any other aviation related questions. I'm a certified nut

KRSTN, I was in the same position as you. We lived in Phoenix for years, I went through my third trimester during the summer and that did it for me, I wanted out! We moved up to Prescott, AZ and although beautiful, it is not right for families. We too are seriously considering COS. I really want an established neighborhood in a good school district...I hate "cookie cutters". I want my new home to have personality! Our home in PHX was in the central corrider (not the high ticket part!) and we loved our older home, we had a lot of fun fixing it up and hope to do some remodeling again in a new home!
