hey guys....

For the past year, I've been researching the best way/answer to give me a "REAL TIME" outlook on the CS' economy/ job prospects etc in 2011., NOT in 1999....

But what i keep reading, are short un-informative/biased answers that lead into verbal disputes for everyone that claims to know best? C-mon people!!!!!! All i want is a straight answer, Look, I live in Austin, Texas (music capital) i'm in my late 30'(s), a nursing assistant with 20 years experience and a legal degree/ paralegal (couple years experience) and am thinking about relocating to CS.....

Can someone PLEASE tell me (without) any philosophies, without your biased personality, without trying to search my family genetical tree, without wanting to know what I like, Or not, without any other stuff that usually end'(s) up debating CS'(s) next best local car-wash and even that- that will still end up being debated by what one like's, Or not, about how the pressured-water and how it should come out..... Just give a a straight up answer and i'll let me own brain decide.,

geeeessss people? All i want is someone to give me factual information on the job prospect., because i keep reading that CS is a republican/conservative town (nothing wrong with that) but if that's the case, how can any newcomer come into the "scene" without having the local 'conservative employers" 'eye-scan" you and then say, sorry were not hiring right now, please come back in like- 10 years....

Thanks.

Of course there are jobs here. You just need to be living here and applying for them. Most places won't waste their time interviewing someone who lives 1000+ miles away, unless you have a skill that is hard to find.

My wife is a RN and had no issues finding a job several months ago at Memorial Hospital on their Med/Surg floor.

I don't think many places, other than nursing homes, use CNAs anymore. They've been replaced by RNs and techs.

Unfournately not everyone is a Republican here If that is a big deal for you, then check out Boulder where 75% voted for Obama. Most people are open minded and could care less about politics.

I'm sorry, can you rephrase?

All i want is someone to give me factual information on the job prospect., because i keep reading that CS is a republican/conservative town (nothing wrong with that) but if that's the case, how can any newcomer come into the "scene" without having the local 'conservative employers" 'eye-scan" you and then say, sorry were not hiring right now, please come back in like- 10 years....

I'm not sure what a " local 'conservative employers" 'eye-scan" " is?

I think what you want is data. That really is not what a discussion board is about. You can find all the data you want through other sites on the internet.

Now, if you want opinions, than this is the place for you.

Nobody is going to discuss politics with you in a job interview -- that would likely be against the law. It's actually impolite to discuss politics around the office, and few of your co-workers are likely to do so. If you choose to engage in political discussions at work, I doubt anything will happen to you, as most people accept that there are two sides to every issue.

Bottom line. As a small business owner, I can say that looking for a job in this town is no different than looking for a job anywhere else. Nobody cares if you are liberal, conservative, republican, democrat, socialist, whatever; As long as you're qualified and can do the job you won't have a problem.

Here's some recent news from the local newspaper:

Gazette: Colorado Springs Job Market Outlook Ranks Among Nation's Worst

Given that, and the very real preference given to locals in non-government hiring in this area, maybe it's not a good plan to come here unless you can swing a job first.

OTOH, maybe it's not a good plan to move without a job lined up to ANYWHERE...

Colorado Springs is my home town. I've had all kinds of jobs there and never had a potential employer "eye scan" me (whatever that means). This despite the fact that I am a bleeding heart liberal who practices Buddhism. How do you dress for job interviews? I can understand getting "eye scanned" if you show up in full goth regalia or in 60's hippy attire. But if you show up looking and acting like a professional, CS employers are like employers everywhere else. They will judge you on your ability to do the job - not your politics/religion. The obvious exception to this would be outfits like Focus on the Family, but I assume you are not looking for a job with them.
