Hi All, I am new to the COS area and unfortunately most of the flights I need to take leave from Denver at peak travel times. Other than driving myself or flying does anyone have suggestions of how to get to Denver airport?? Thanks in advance!

I-25 to the E-470 exit, pay 5 to 6 bucks in tolls and get off on Pena blvd then turn to the right or left depending on what airline you are flying out of.

Too bad you can't fly out of the Springs. That small airport has served me well and I get my luggage lost a lot less.

Google Colorado Springs Express. Five Round Trips per day from COS to DEN with five stops along the way. Commuter van type service ranging from $30 - $50 one way.

Just drove to DIA today from Monument. I listen to AM850 for traffic and decide whether to drive E-470 or go to 225-70-Pena. 225 is quicker if the traffic is light, because I don't have a transponder and have to stop at 3 toll booths . $5.75 each way. You can also drive up 83 to E-470 and miss the first toll.

Sometimes I will rent a Hertz car and drop it at DIA. It makes it a lot more convienent for me if I'm not flying back to DIA, or I'm not coming back for a while. Parking is $9 outside and $18 inside. The rental car is about $65.

Default Here is another route that avoids I-25

Go north on Academy (or Powers). Take Highway 83 north. You will come to E470 in Parker. You can jump on there and cut down on your toll cost as well as avoiding most of the traffic on the way. This is a really pretty drive.

2 downsides.

The drive may take you a little longer than I-25 (if I-25 has traffic it won't).

The road is not great after a snow storm because fewer people drive on it.

Give yourself just a little extra time and you will avoid many of the I-25 headaches.

Default Drive to DEN airport from CS

How long is the drive time from CS (say Briargate area) to DEN airport (employee parking) at its best and worse times? Thanks!

Go to p2 of this forum and go to 3-3-2007 and you'll see a similiar topic. [Mod Says: I've merged that thread with this one.]

I'd say an hour and a half in good traffic and two hours in bad if you go up I-25 to E-470, pay the $5.75 in tolls, get off onto Pena, and go wherever you gotta go.

Hope that helps. Hope you have a nice stereo.

I make the drive from my home in the Briargate area, vicinity of Pine Creek High School at Powers & Old Ranch, to the off-airport pay parking lot in 60-70 minutes. I use I-25 to Toll Rd. Never had a bad experience in my 5-6 trips so far. Have not tried the other routes.

Pretty good time. Do you drive more than 5 mph over the speed limit? (That's 75 for most of I-25 and 70 for 470.)

[Mod replies: I never go over 80 mph. Fortunately, I've yet to hit a backup or lane closure on my DIA runs.]

Default Fly from Springs

There are times you may need to start your flight(s) in Denver but unless we all start using our own airport more often we have less of a chance to get more flights from it. Even if you save $50 on a ticket in Denver - at COS you drive minutes instead of hours, especially good on the return, and parking is so much cheaper.
