pictures of your neighborhood
Other than moving so far away from family again (ex Air Force) the biggest concern my wife and I have about moving out to Colorado is adjusting to the types of housing. It seems like most all of the new construction in subdivisions are crammed into as small of an area as possible and from looking on the internet it doesn't seem to be uncommon to have a view of a dozen other homes from your deck. We currently live in a neighborhood in Alabama that has 1 acre minimum lots and mine is almost three acres and very wooded. It would be a big adjustment for sure. Of course, I understand the trade off of being so close to the mountains and we would spend a lot of our free time away from the house anyway but out of curiosity, do any of you have pictures of your neighborhood that you could post? It seems that the pics that the realtors post, they cut off of the sides so that you can't really tell how close your neighbor is. Thanks!

Not sure if this will help for the Springs region but it does work in the Los Angeles area. Go to zillow.com and find a house and see if there is a "Bird's Eye View" option or tab. It is absolutely amazing.
Here's a home in Highland's Ranch.

Man that is a cool site. It is cool how you can look at all the other homes in the neighborhood and their estimated valuse and which ones sold recently and for how much. Sweet.

Bison Ridge Sub-Div, N.E. COL SPGS, (zip 80908) a short walk to Pine Creek HS, near Old Ranch Rd and Powers Blvd. Pine Creek Sub-Div (zip 80920) is just across Old Ranch Rd. Most homes have a view of Front Range, Pikes Peak, USAFA, etc. Some back up to open space. Prices in Bison Ridge and Pine Creek go from $350k to $800k, or more. New TH's starting at $250k (Ashton Woods). This pic is 21 Dec 2006, morning after a blizzard.

We live a little west of the Springs on the north-west slope of Pikes Peak. Most of the houses in the neighborhood are on 2 to 5 acres. We moved up here because we couldn't do urban sprawl again.

thumbnails vs images
Anyone know why some photos appear in the body of the post and others appear as clickable thumbnails?
