LPN Programs in the Springs??
Aloha Everyone!
Just wondered of any of you knew which schools have Licensed Practical Nursing programs down in the Springs. The closest program I could find in Colorado was in Aurora. As always, your help is appreciated.

Just checked with my daughter who is a nurse in COS. She said there are no longer any LPN programs available there. Pikes Peak Comm. College did offer the LPN program but discontinued the program this past year. I do believe there are several in the Denver area though - check out the community colleges at: cccs.edu

It looks like Pueblo and Denver are your only opportunities.

What about CNA programs? I was thinking about doing CNA while I go to school to get my LPN.
(CO mom in paradise, I hope it's ok if I use your thread to ask )

LPN Scool in COS
There are currently no LPN programs in the Springs. I am a CNA instructor right now. Our company is planning to open an LPN program next year. If you are interested in taking a CNA course give me a call - 719-574-5562 ext 242.
Becoming a CNA first is an excellent way to start. You will have more common sense as a nurse, establish yourself with the nursing community and be better prepared when you do become a nurse than people who go straight through school. Our instructors have all been CNA before becoming nurses.
Not to say that it is a requirement, but it has been my experience that being a CNA first makes for better all around nurses.

CNA classes
Pikes Peak Communtiy College offers CNA courses. It only took me a few minutes to enroll. They have them at two or three campuses.

LPN in C/S
There is an LPN program in Colorado Springs. It is at Academy Medical & Health Science. The number is (719) 540-3661. You will have to leave a message and she will call you back. Best of luck to you all.

Do Associate RN instead!
I'm an LPN with an Associate degree and I really wish I would of done the RN program. They are phasing LPN's out in A LOT of states or minimizing their jobs to nursing homes, home health, or if lucky dr offices for less pay. You will make twice as much as an RN for basically the same job.
