Default Weather in different areas of Colorado Springs

Greetings. I'm another lurker who has long loved Colorado Springs and is looking at a move here. I've seen a number of threads describing the wide variance in the weather between the north and south as well as between the east and west parts of town. For example, I've read Monument averages 100" of snow while Colorado Springs averages 44".

As we now have a solid idea on the areas (North, Northwest parts of town) we are interested in for buying a home, I wanted to see if anyone could specifically give feedback on the weather variance between these areas:

-Gleneagle/Jackson Creek/Fox Run
-Briargate/Pine Creek
-Peregrine

Is there really a big difference between the amount of average precipitation between these areas? How about temperature? Wind levels?

Besides just information from personal experience, does anyone know of a site that tracks these pieces of information for different weather stations in and around Colorado Springs?

Thanks!

I can tell you that although the weather differs around town, it's pretty much all the same.

Monument is definitely colder and more precip.
The air force academy / Gleneagle is a little colder / more precip.

I live in Briargate, my friends at work live all over, Broadmoor, pleasant valley, midtown etc. and we all get our share of the same weather. Sure, it'll rain up north and the westside gets nothing, but then a few days later it flip flops.
So day to day and hour by hour it differs, but annually it's all the same, except for Monument and Gleneagle.

It is windy here. I am from Albuquerque and I thought it was windy there, but it's windier here for sure.

If you want better weather, go to Denver.
Good Luck!

If you know the ZIP code, you might try www.weatherunderground.com or The Weather Channel's website and see if they break the Springs down by ZIP's or subdivisions and see how the weather differs right now. Unless you're going up Hwy 24 to Woodland Park, I don't think there's much of a difference. The northern edge and western side of the Springs generally gets a little more snow than the east or south, and I think the winds are a little stronger on the west side. But, the west side is up against the foothills, so it's a little cooler, windier, snowier; the north side is near the Palmer-Divide which separates weather from the Springs and Denver; and the east side is flatter and spreads toward the plains so there is more wind again (like the westside), but snow tends to be slightly less, although it may blow more and in extreme storms, be more blizzardlike. The same with summertime afternoon storms. They tend to be a little more concentrated on the west side as they roll off the foothills to the west, and dry out as they move eastward. But, out east (on the east side) they can form funnels and turn into tornadoes. There was a tornado watch for today, for example. You can go to any of the TV station's web sites (KOAA, KRDO, KKTV), or www.gazette.com our local newspaper for information as well. Hope moving here works out for you!

Here is another site that tracks weather, precipitation, snow, etc, from various reporting stations throughout the state. Lots of data there if you can figure out how to navigate through it.

CoCoRaHS - Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network

I disagree! I work @ Voyager/Northgate and live downtown and there is a considerable difference!
Colder, windier, snowier, icier, and wetter up north, for sure! I can't tell you how many times I've been comfy @ home only to find myself freezing at work.

I currently live in Peregrine and have previously lived in Gleneagle. The weather differences between the areas you cite will be marginal. For example, I'll often talk to former neighbors in Gleneagle who say they've got 6" of snow to my 4-5" in Peregrine. Then I'll drive south toward downtown and it'll vanish to nothing more than wet streets ... if that. Temps will be likewise similar but slightly cooler as you move from the northern neighborhoods of Rockrimmon / Briargate to Gleneagle to Monument to Palmer Lake. Often when we're getting snow you'll see winter weather advisories include "northern El Paso county" which is typically no further south than Woodmen or Garden of the Gods roads. So the differences are somewhat measurable, maybe even noticeable, but not remarkably different like going from north Springs to downtown.
