My husband works downtown and they took off for a couple minutes to see a bit of the race. He saw the mayor and the governor, he was pretty pleased. I wish it was on the weekend so I could have seen it!!

Watched a portion of today's prologue on TV. Great backdrop of the start in Garden of the Gods and nice aerial shots of the city. While cycling may not be a major sport in the US, it is quite popular in other parts of the world and this race is a big deal. You have the finest cyclists in the world competing, and the top commentators and analysts covering it, with full tv coverage, including major network coverage on the final day. And today, CS was the beneficiary. Really great PR for the city and the state. I had to go downtown by car about the time they started closing streets; it just wasn't that bad and you could work around the closures. Compared to other events in other cities where they shut things down, this rates as a pretty minor inconvenience, with more than enough positive publicity to make up for it. As a newcomer to CS, I'm impressed with the city's ability to handle such events as the hillclimb and now a major cycling event.

Yea, well the Hill Climb is also an international event, and is almost 100 years old, so why the hell doesn't it get the kind of press that this spandex commando Lance Armstrong wannbe group did?

That really burns me.
