They'll have the entire route shut down to ANY traffic from 11am - 4pm. I feel sorry for my dad, he lives at Pikes Peak and 33rd...

I know it is good for the city, but it is going to be a complete pain in the a** for some of us that have a job to do downtown.

Hell, no! This is an awesome world class event! We should be honored to have these folks in town and in the state. Ya'll are disppointing me. Park and ride, it's not a big deal. Grow up!

Also, it has nothing to do with the USOC.

Park and Ride?! To where? I live on Pikes Peak, right in the path of this garbage mess. I call NIMBY on this one. Why couldn't they hold the race around Chelton/Fountain, oh that's right, wouldn't want the entire world to see what Colorado Springs REALLY has to offer....

ANd yes, you are right, Carmichael Training Systems was instrumental in bringing this to the city, and it WILL bring in tons of tourist dollars, but the USOC is heavily promoting it. Heavily.

Hey! Be nice! Is it really that hard to listen to someone else's opinion you disagree with without telling them to grow up?

I also live downtown. Ride your bike. It's one day. Walk. People never fail to disappoint.

I'm a delivery driver making pick ups as far south as Pueblo and bringing them downtown twice a day. I don't live downtown, I live up north- there aren't enough hours in my day to ride my bike that far. It's not that big of a deal, but you are just so darn rude. Chill.

I for one think it is a good thing we're having the race and I don't personally think a few hours of closed roads is a big deal. It is good business for our city, good publicity, and with potential for more business and benefit in the future. I think it is neat. We had to send messages home with students as it is affecting a few bus routes and maybe a few rides home, but that's just one afternoon.

This is amazing not only for the city of CS but for Colorado in general. The course was announced several weeks ago. That, in my humble opinion, is more than enough time to make arrangements with employers or, alternatively, if you're not a fan of the race to make plans to leave town for the day.

While I've never been employed in the Springs I'd have to imagine they would understand the circumstances of the event and give you some leeway that day much like the city of Denver and it's establishments did with their employees the day of the DNC.
