Can you rent a house in a safe, family area in Colorado springs for the 1000-1300 price range or would you be limited to an apartment or town house? Moving in the Fall/early winter (still not 100% sure of Colorago springs or ft. collins but closer to deciding).

Heck yes.

Look at padmapper.com or the local mls page, which has excellent rentals, at ppar.com

$1,000-$1,300 would definetly be enough to rent a house in a safe and family friendly area.
