Just wanted to say thank you to all the folks i see on here offering great information about the area. Often answering the same questions every week or day even...the perspective you share is invaluable to us Colorado Springs wannabes!
If you guys are any representation of the local populous I think we'll be pretty happy there!

Thanks again for the info and the patience! This is such a major life decision for our large family and we have done research out the wazoo, but nothing is a substitute for reports from those of you with "boots on the ground".

(Man y'all are gonna be sick of me by the time we actually get up there! lol)

- Chris

Haha, no problem. I've lived alot of places, but Colorado Springs is the one place I'll defend to the death. It has it's problems, but there's no other place in the state I could live.

Lonestar - Glad to help. When we were searching the West for a place to retire, we took our vacations for several years to visit communities in six different states. That experience was both enjoyable and informative, but we were still tourists in strange places. Hard to get a real feel for the communities as places to live as opposed to places to visit. As I was doing on-line research, I stumbled on this site and it proved to be a treasure trove of first hand information (many kudos to Mike for moderating. Added bonus: his situation paralleled ours in so many ways; kinda scary, but really helpful ). After lurking for a while, I finally posted a query asking whether we would fit in, given our particular circumstances, and the replies were great. I can say that this forum was one of the keys to our selecting CS. There were others (having friends here helped a lot as well), and the fact that I had lived in CO in the past, though not CS. We've been here now for almost a year, with no regrets. We find more to like every day. So, if I can return the favor by posting our experiences (even if they're a bit repetitive), and they help others make up their minds, I'm happy to do so. My thanks again to Mike and other regular posters such as Otowi, Phetaroi, Holly, Lalahartma, etc., and yes, even Bob, whose opinions I value, even though I disagree with just about everything he says.

Love this state! I agree with Ryan whole heartedly. Finding a city this large with a down to Earth attitude is so hard to find. I heart COS

Though I'm not bonkers on big cities these days, The Springs always works for me regarding shopping when I stay with my relatives who live near Larkspur. I grew up in the Springs in the late 50's to mid 60's-loved it.
