I am looking for a christian high school for my daughter who will be a 9th grader next year. She is an average learner that does not really have much interest in school other than for the social aspect and has had discipline challenges. We are a christian family and want the best possible influences for our daughter but it seems so many private schools pride themselves in "rigid" academics that I am finding it hard to find a place for my child. She does best in a smaller learning environment and needs a setting where the majority is good influences over bad as she is easily influenced. I have two older children that have done well in the public school setting but given my youngest daughter's "tracklist", this is not even a consideration. She is currently in a public, alternative middle school that only serves 7th and 8th grade, HELP!!!!

St Mary's? As far as I know it is straight-up average for academics and has a pretty active social aspect.

Have you looked into private schools other than Christian? Charter Schools?

I checked with a friend who put her boys through TCA (one struggled) and she felt the academics were too rigorous for my daughter and the influences not too different from a public school.

I may check into that although we are not Catholic.

Years ago when I worked there, students who went from public school to St. Mary's found the academics there very challenging. St. Mary's is not an easier school. It is worth a look; many of the students at that school are high achieving in many areas of life, so it may be a school with some good influences.

Challenging academics is what I am up against. How does a family find a school that has better influences that will accept my daughter despite her academic weaknesses. Anybody know of any blog sites that would address this issue?

Default Christian School Hollywood

prefer Sheridan Hills Christian School in Hollywood, because it offers excellent accredited co-educational programs and also an enriched academic environment with active social aspect.
