Default manitou springs housing

hello, we are planning to relocate to Colorado & would like any info on housing (to buy) in Manitou Springs. We're in the process of researching different areas & can't find anything for sale in this area on any of the typical sights. Is there really nothing for sale (we've checked all price ranges & came up w/ nothing) We're originally from Oregon & now live in the midwest & can't wait to relocate somewhere a little more funky. Can anyone give me any ideas about house prices & schools? Or possibly redirect me to other semi-affordable small towns (3,000 to 8,000 pop.)? Thank you in advance for any feedback!

I like peakhomes.com! I bought a house in Manitou in October...it was my dream house (for my budget)...I could not afford it initially but after a couple price drops it finally fell into my budget. They say we are in a buyer's market....it seems especially beneficial for people who are not contingent on selling their home first in order to purchase. I love living in Manitou....it feels like a real community and very soulful. Other mountain communities nearby are Woodland Park and Cascade.

i have found so many homes for sale in the crystal park subdivision of manitou springs, in our price range, that i am actually a little afraid of what is going on there. i did find 1 article saying there are MANY foreclosures in crystal park. any knowledge about this would be SO helpful, as we are ready to move. also have looked at pagosa springs- it's between those two. help anyone, thx

I'm sorry, but what is "the Ruby Ridge type"? That's a completely new term to me.

I am also looking at Manitou Springs but want to rent first. Anyone seen any Houses for rent? We have 3 kids & 2 dogs.( so technically 5 kids)
I like what I see about it being liberal & open minded.

We're looking all over CO. Like, Colorado Springs, Fountain Valley, Manitou Springs or Fort Collins.

Fort Collins is quite a bit further north than the other cities you mentioned. Did you mean Ft Carson, which is an Army post, or Fort Collins which is a city?

ruby ridge "type" refers to a family (in Idaho), i believe, that set up a compound and believed strongly that the government was an entity that had no place in their lives. they were led by the father. the gov. got wind of them being up there, their views and thought they were stockpiling weapons. agents went up and of course, all heck broke loose, agents killed/injured as well as members of the family. sort of like the "waco" incident, but not alot of people- just the family and not a "cult"- just extreme separatists that wanted to be left alone and alot of paranoid people on both sides. but, like waco- a complete governmental failure.
