You've lived in COS one year, so have I. Last year was nasty. Most everyone agrees.

The city seems very run down and lacking great grocery stores, dining, or shopping.

I agree that some parts of the city look this way. It's up to those merchants to clean up or they will be out of business. I think there is at least one local government initiative to clean up downtown and/or Neveda and/or some parts of Academy. However, there are many new places in the north end and starting on the far eastern side that are well planned, landscaped, and attractive. However, the worst parts of COS are better than average parts of the San Fernando Valley, where homes average $500K.

Every time we went out to eat, some fundamentalist was loudly proclaiming his/her faith at the table next to us or giving a soapbox speech about why children should be spanked (lots of Dobson followers there).

Out of curiosity, where to you eat? I've never had this experience and from my observations of the COS posts for close to a year, I think few people have had these experiences. (Chime in if I'm wrong or correct.) Also, note that Los Angeles %religious is around 50% higher than COS according to Sperlings Best Places. Los Angeles isn't the most conservative town either.

From Sperlings:37.10% of the people in Colorado Springs, CO are religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion. 11.25% are Catholic; 17.49% are Protestant; 2.28% are LDS; 5.62% are another Christian faith; 0.29% in Colorado Springs, CO are Jewish; 0.06% are an eastern faith; 0.12% affilite with Islam.
58.08% of the people in Los Angeles, CA are religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion. 39.99% are Catholic; 6.75% are Protestant; 1.04% are LDS; 3.33% are another Christian faith; 5.93% in Los Angeles, CA are Jewish; 0.07% are an eastern faith; 0.98% affilite with Islam.

I guess its just that I don't like Colorado.Plus I don't have any family in Colorado. In Cleveland I could go to Cavs,Browns,or Indians games. There was a bunch of public schools where I could play basketball at.The architecture was much better.I liked to go by Lake Erie, and I lived real close to it.My favorite mall is back there too.

There are other threads here, obviously, that describe some of these issues in greater detail.

I posted one on the food shopping and Mikefrombackeast followed up on so well as usual;

What about Par Avion Finer Foods Emporium? I think it's near Circle and 115. I like Wild Oats too.
I don't know if CS has a Wild Oats, but I'm pretty sure they've got a Vitamin Cottage, which is a whole lot better than the one in Pueblo. By the way, I finally got to check out that Trader Joes in SoCal and I was underwelmed. It doesn't hold a candle to the place in CS mentioned above.

By the way, for every "Focus on the Family" bumper sticker in CS, there's a "Focus on your own #%mn Family" bumper sticker. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Thus proveing Newinthe719s statement, any person that says Denver is boring is a boring person, I can understand you missin your fam but that a reason to talk down on my town, how can you say Denvers boring cuz you cant see the cavs or "go to your favorite mall" thats bs Ive been to Cleveland and all n all Denver kills Cleveland in most catigories. Denver has a better nightlife, sport scene, downtown/skyline,malls, and from what I saw way better lookin women, so all that stuff you said was fun in cleveland you can do out here your jus not doin it also if you wana see the cavs jus come up here the next time there in town, so you can see the Nuggets smash em

Im not a boring person.I've done things out here,I just haven't enjoyed it out here. And when you say Denver kills Cleveland all in all in most catigories your just stating your opinion.I think the women are better looking in Cleveland, but thats just my opinion.I really don't care what you think about Cleveland,I still like it,and think its a better city than Denver, again though thats just my opinion.

CTownNative, just curious, are you being held in Co springs, or are you under 18 years old. Why not just move? I think you should go back where you are happy. I do understand hating where you live though.

CTownNative i think you jus person who likes to only find the negative of Colorado because you not in Cleveland. your never goin to be happy any where else but cleveland just b/c your not there and you dont simply try to find the positive aspect of Colorado. Denver has tons of stuff to do in both winter and summer iwould no i jus moved from there. so instead of talkin about how much better Cleveland is try enjoyin what you have and where you live

you people who complain about traffic in colorado springs make me laugh.

i've seen your traffic. i've been hip deep in your rush hour. it's a joke... a complete joke. sure there are a few bottlenecks, but you all have it lucky compared to many urban areas in the country, not the least of which would be d.c.

traffic... give me a break.
