I was wondering if anyone here has opinions on the big box stores such as Home Depot, Lowes and Carpet Exchange for pricing and installation of carpet?

Out side of the big box options, there are a few others like Colorado Carpet and IQ Floors. Have you used either of these two or would you recommend anyone else?

Thanks,

BR

When I compared the three, I always ended up going with Carpet Exchange (3x). I have always had great customer service both in the store and with their contracted installers. The installers where always polite, worked quickly and thoroughly, used their blue booties, etc.
A fire fighter friend of ours who works at Lowes secretly recommended Carpet Exchange for their quality of carpet and installers whereas Lowes gives it to the lowest bidder. I don't know if this is still true or just true for this specific Lowes, but we all know things like this happens.
I like Carpet Exchange.

I had Lowes carpet the main floor of my house about 18 months ago when I moved here. Totally satisfied. And I often have Lowes do things for me (including all my appliances) because I have found they stand by their products and their installation. My neighbor recently got a dishwasher from Lowes and there was a small scratch on the top that would be totally covered by the counter. At her demand, however, they replaced it.

I recently replaced a hot water heater -- not Lowes -- because I was not satisfied with the brands they offered.

I had a good experience with O’Briens Carpet One a few years ago. Great service, selection and prices were competitive, as I remember. It was less overwhelming for me to use them over a big box store.
