It could have been any slogan and I would have hated it. When I look at this city it doesn't look like we can afford a slogan. Or, more accurately, deserve one.

When I thought of Colorado Springs (before moving here), I thought of Pikes PEAK and Garden Of The GODS. And then, as someone mentioned, there's the Olympic connection. Gee, seems like those things provide some grist for a good saying.

Having lived in Teller and El Paso Counties for over 35 years, Live It Up isn't something I would associate with COS. Maybe because I know Katharine Lee Bates wrote "America The Beautiful" after seeing Pikes Peak, the mountain is what I think of first when I think of COS. Why didn't they use that as their main theme? Oh, yeah. They didn't ask us, did they?

Seems like 100k would have been better spent on turning our street lights back on. Or how about adding and expanding the public transportation.

Why not a contest among us "ordinary," folks? Throw the contest out to the schools; our kids are so bright. The graphics and slogans would have surpassed "live it up." 100k?

Maybe the slogan was not finished. Did they mean "live it up in the clean air of the rockies?" Too many late nights on Tejon.

With the combination of our altitude and the abundance of MMJ shops here how about "let's get high". Kidding, happy Friday. :-) RP

This type of thing happened in Grand Junction a few years ago. The city paid some outside firm or consultant a bundle of money to come up with a boring logo. They should have done what Fruita did and have a logo contest that local artists could have created logos for.

We have a college here with many art students that would have been excited to create a logo for the city.

I just say "follow the money." Who on the city board knows the consultant?

I like that...although I'm not sure most people would get it unless they knew the history.

How about something with "spacious skies" and "purple mountains majesty", to go along with the God Bless America theme?

The skies and mountains could be by the logo's drawing and coloration. The video could open with a great snowy shot of Pikes Peak, quickly explaining how Ms Bates saw the mountain and penned her immortal words that we all sing at ballparks and other venues, then onto the heart of the matter.
