Transracial family....diversity in CS? (Colorado Springs: home, best school districts, live in)

Hi all, my husband and I live in the suburbs outside of NYC. We have 3 sons, two of whom are black (we are white). We are thinking about places to move and I was wondering how diverse CS is? We obv dont want our sons being the only black children in school

Also, what how long do the seasons last? In my mind I think of CO being freezing cold and having snow from Nov-May!

Not a lot of diversity here, but there is some, with most of it being due to the large military presence, especially in the southern parts of the COLO SPGS metro area.

I'm not aware of any bad news here concerning racism.

Best school districts, from north to south, are D38, D20, D12, D8 and some of the schools in D11 which is the main city district.

Racial mixing is the norm here and there are lots of interracial marriages and mixed-race children and young adults. While in percentages the area is mostly white, it is fairly easy for most anyone to feel at home here. I might recommend the better D11 schools, or D8 or D3 for a good combination of quality schools and diversity.

Colorado Springs is pretty racially diverse as stated above. It shouldn't be a problem anywhere, but you'll find more children of color in the school districts mentioned above. D-20 and D-12 are less diverse, but neither of them would be a problem.

As for snow, not much here. In the mountains and at the ski areas, there is considerably more snow, but Colorado Springs isn't in the mountains, it's on the plains. Most of the snowfall is in March and April, but technically it can snow anytime between September and May, with the average first measurable snow in mid-late October and the last measurable snow in early April. In between snowfalls, there is rarely any snow on the ground, even after the heaviest snows, because in most cases it melts as soon as the sun comes out. Rarely does it stick around for more than a few days. 30 degrees here can feel like 50 if the sun is out, which is most of the time. Since there's barely any humidity, it doesn't really feel cold, either, and lots of winter days you don't even need a coat. It's a very moderate, dry climate.

I was born and raised here. Even a million years ago when I was a kid the city was pretty diverse. I think this is largely due to being a military town. Here, you'll meet every type, flavor, and variety of humanity and this is a good thing!
