Lots and lots of motorcyclists here...especially since gas has gone up so much over the last couple of years.

Many, many daily motorcycle commuters and because there are so many scenic passes and curvy mountain roads all over Colorado, it's a great place to ride and it's very big here.

Despite the winter weather, many folks ride year-round...if there's no snow on the ground....you can ride!

Every year, there's a ride for the Wounded Warrior Project, and it is awesome.

Hundreds of bikers participate and ride two by two through the city to raise money for a worthy cause. It's police escorted, and it's always a big hit.

Is there a car culture like in Southern California? Like hotrods, car clubs etc?

There are car clubs. I belong to one of the Corvette clubs. I am sure there are other car clubs as well.

There are plenty car clubs around. The Corvette and Porsche clubs are very active here in COS (they actually had a joint event last year for the Black Forest community parade). There's a very nice hot rod show in Woodland Park each year and a sister event in Cripple Creek. I'm pretty sure there are plenty of other cruise-in or other shows around as well, but I'm not that plugged into that scene. There's a big hot rod in Denver at the Convention Center each year that is well represented by the car clubs in the Denver area and a large Concours for the sports car enthusiasts, as well. There are several race tracks that the local clubs use for track days, including PPIR, which is just outside COS, Pueblo, La Junta, and a couple up in the Denver area. You can check out PPIR for its other programs as well. I don't think you'll have any problem finding fellow gear heads, if not here, then up in Denver, which is only an hour or so ROAD TRIP.

While there is a car culture here, there's only one car culture like SoCal, and that's SoCal. Nothing competes with that (except of course Monterey in August and Scottsdale in January).

I split these posts out from the "best things" thread....

There is a car culture of sorts here....groups meet at various eateries around town. I know a Chevy Club used to meet at place over off of Woodmen that is both a carwash and eatery. IIRC a bunch of car guys also meet up at an eatery in Monument (Rosie's Diner?).

To find them, it might be best to google the topic to find info on the clubs and meet-ups.

You might want to check meetup - do a search for motorcycle clubs. There are always lots of bikes that gather in Deckers on the weekends when the weather is nice (Rt. 67 from Woodland Park).

During the summer months, there's a monthly informal car show each month. It's held by Dave's Sporting Goods on Powers. A different club sponsors each month. They have coffee and donuts bought by the sponsoring club. It's just show up, stand around, and talk cars for about two hours. Then everyone goes home to cut the grass.
