We are considering moving to Woodland Park area if my husband could find a job there. He is a very talented field manager for a large residential construction company. We currently live in Missouri on 14 acres so we would even be open to living in a more rural area like Divide or Florissant. Any tips as to where he could search for a job? I only see door to door sales type jobs on Craigslist and Career Builder type sites. Driving to Colorado Springs would be fine but we are don't want to live in a tight knit subdivision. Thank you in advance!

Construction slowed immensely in the late 2000's in Teller county. I don't know that it bounced back all that much. I also think most contractors are of the smaller, family run types. When we lived there full time, there weren't any large scale contracting companies. New homes were mostly custom, no Pulte or anything like that. Those are down in the Springs.

This is the Teller County phone book. Contractor listings start on page 260. It might give you an idea of what's available and the names and numbers you could call to inquire about employment. Good Luck!

Great resource. Thank you! I think building has slowed down everywhere. Our area has a lot of building right now due to the Joplin, MO tornado but that should only last about 18 months. We will check out the phone book. Thanks again!

Stay in Joplin and milk it for all it's worth, as things here are very slow and it will be hard for him to find a job.

Check our local building trade group for a list of its members, the bigger ones here will be Richmond American, Pulte, Keller, Classic, Campbell and a few more. No really big developments here going full bore like in 2005.

Not much in construction jobs up here. The remodel/handyman guys stay busy

A new bible college and a 176 apartment complex are in the works to be built this year, that's about it.

Thank you for your honest input everyone. We don't need to fool ourselves into thinking everything would be perfect just because it is beautiful there. Having a steady source of income is definately the most important. I will look into the bigger builders listed.

IT would not be construction necessarily, but you might check with these folks: Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company
