Post Moving to Colorado Springs this summer...help

Okay, I know it is still March but time flies but we are new to the area and tons of things to get done.
We're looking for a newer (>10 yrs) neighborhood, young teenage kids and pet friendly. Neighborhood with walking trails would be great! Would like the convieniences of shopping and restaurants but also want at least half acre lot.

Want no more than a 30 minute commute to work and north of Air Force Academy. Which areas are within that range from the AF Academy?

1) How is traffic on I-25?

2) Which area of town are more desirable to live in? Certain neighborhoods or general areas? Which areas should I avoid? High crime, graffitti?

3) Which school district is considered the best? When does the new school year start?

4) Also, looking for soccer club for 11 and 14 yr old. Know of any?

Thanks for any advice you can give

Check out Flying Horse - newer subdivision, excellent school district (D20), very close to AFA, plenty of walking trails, shopping nearby. In D20, school starts August 15th.

Which areas are within that range from the AF Academy?

Most of the city, but probably not Fountain, Security, Widefield, Woodland Park....

1) How is traffic on I-25?

Easy most of the time, but heavier in the area you're looking (around AFA).

2) Which area of town are more desirable to live in? Certain neighborhoods or general areas? Which areas should I avoid? High crime, graffitti?

Anywhere you pick around AFA would be considered highly desirable.

3) Which school district is considered the best? When does the new school year start?

Where you're looking, people love D38 and D20. School starts early-mid August.

4) Also, looking for soccer club for 11 and 14 yr old. Know of any?

Not personally.

Woodmoor in Monument, is full of retired/active AF. We're 1 or 2 off-ramps north of the North Gate entrance, depending on the area. Lots are 1/2+ acre and homes are all custom.
There are other developments in Monument that have larger lots too> Fox Run, King's Deer, Arrowwood, Lang Tree, and Red Rocks Ranch to name a few. There are also areas in between that are not part of any development> area along Roller Coaster Rd come to mind.
Monument is in highly rated School District 38, so you are not giving anything up school-wise.
Look in zip 80132. We love it up here, but you might have different preferences.
