I don't really care for the 75+ year old cottages and so so neighborhoods. Precisley why I moved from the west side. I live off Dublin and it's perfect for me. Not too old, not too new.
THe west side gets a little wierd any how.

I live in Briargate and I think its a great area.In the neighborhood i live in Im close to the Chapel Hills Mall,a Circuit City,a Best Buy,and a Wal-Mart.Theres tons of fast food places around where I live like McDonalds,Burger King,Taco Bell,Chipotle,Qduobas,a Good Times burger joint.Theres a Dennys,Red Robin,I-Hop,and a Steak resturant off academy.Theres an Outback and TGI Fridays pretty close to I-25.2 King Suppers locations not far from where I live, and Albertsons.I mean theres just all kinds of stores around here.Memorial Hospital North is in a very convenient location. Its a very safe neighborhood,I never hear about cops having to come around where the neighborhood I live in.The schools are ranked highly. The people are nice here. Its Diverse in my neighborhood. The houses are all nice and well kept, and a good number of houses have big yards.Lots of parks and bike trails and things like that.Good views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding mountains.Good access to all the major roads and I-25.Only about a 35-40 minute drive to Denver.Definety a great area to live in.

Exactly why I live there now. It's just so nice to be in an area where there's everything you need within a few miles. Heck, there's even a pond in a park off Jamboree where I can go fishing if the urge hits.

I live in Briargate and Im not a snob.I just have pride in my neighborhood.People up here just like to take care of thier property, this can be siad for most of Colorado Springs. And I can tell you the people I live around don't look down upon people who are poorer. The neighborhod I live in isn't a rich area, theres lower income people who live in my area.I have a question for you, what do you find snobby about the people of Briargate?

Wow, the noob mut be jealous of people who actually own something nice, and take pride in their neighborhood and property.
I haven't met anyone up here who wasn't super nice to me, and that wasn't a decent human being. I wouldn't go back to the west side if you paid me to live there. It just has a wierd vibe to it.

The pictures are awesome. I would only hope to be able to afford something in taht area at this point. Do you think there is any room there for a first time buyer moving from out of state? That view of the mountains is exacty what I'm looking for.

Can you afford $200k? That gets you a decent home in 80920. Back in the DC area where we're from, $200k gets you a GARAGE.
Use REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale and use the advanced search, insert zip 80920 and your price range and see what pops up.
Most folks think prices will fall a bit more, maybe a lot more, but that depends on city and state. This area is decently stable (lot of military and federal money here) thus there's some degree of continuity in prices and availability.
Best bet is to rent a year in 80920 while you determine your best location and prospects. Realtor.com also shows rental homes.
