I'm a Muslim in Colorado Springs. There is a moderate Sunni-denomination mosque located on Chestnut Street. It is a good area to live, so you might look for an apartment at, say, the Oasis on Fillmore or somewhere on Garden of the Gods road. There are service jobs available, but job hunting is competitive in all fields. I have found the Springs to be mostly a live-and-let-live kind of place and have rarely had any problems as a Muslim here, but also the community of Muslims is very small and disconnected and as such there are not a lot of resources - for example - if you eat zabiha meat you'd better plan on driving to Denver to get it as far as I know. As for utilities and groceries, that varies a lot depending on what you eat/do and how you budget, so I wouldn't venture a guess.

Yes, halal slaughter. (hilal is the word for the crescent moon). But, I specifically used the word zabiha because there are some Muslims who eat, say, kosher meat, and consider it halal, but everyone agrees what zabiha means.
