Default are there any broad leaf trees usual in Co spgs? and fireflies?

just 2 really maybe odd questions as where I am now in WA state it is ALL conifers. do any homes or suburbs to Co Springs have any broad leaf trees? (for kids to climb, leaves to rake to use in garden, shade to enjoy) Are there any fireflies or lightning bugs in summer? I've seen map that says a few sightings...originally from back east where they abound. Sure do miss them for my kids here. Thanks.

I think the only common native broad leaf trees here are Aspens and Scrub Oak, neither of which are climbable or give much shade. In stream bed areas there are large Cottonwoods. But people do plant other types of deciduous trees in their yards, like maples, etc.

Lightning bugs - I too miss them once in a while I think I see one here, but they are so infrequent that I end up wondering if I just imagined it.

We have cicada bugs now.... They only seem to have appeared in that last few years here. They don't seem quite as annoying or widespread as they did back east. You probably don't miss those though!

There are few natural broad-leafed trees, but they are all over in people's yards. Lightning bugs - this is the very very limit of their range. I've never seen them here, but I know of people who saw a few in the Pueblo area.

I'm from New England, and I really miss fireflies too. But if you need some leaves to rake, just let me know ...

I never see fireflies. We have Maples and Chinese elms downtown. Also Cottonwoods and some other things.
