At the Union Blvd intersection today they are already pouring concrete in the upright forms for the bridge piers in the median between the east/west lanes of Union Blvd. There's a 50-ton crane with pile driver machine there and all 20 I-beams have been pounded into the ground on the outside of the lanes.

They were working today (Saturday) and the pan scraper was moving dirt around north of Union.

The 50-ton mobile crane has been relocated to the Briargate intersection where it will probably be pounding in the I-beams on Monday.

Monday, 07 May, and they're working in the rain and snow at 37-degrees.

There's now a second pan scraper working; this one is south of Briargate Pkwy.

The 50-ton mobile crane with pile driver was driving steel beams into the ground today at Briargate Pkwy.

There's also a major resurfacing/drainage project about to start on a long stretch of Powers between Woodmen and Proby.

For details and scheduled closures:

The way they're scrambling on this job makes me suspect there's an incentive clause in their contract to get it done quickly.

And this so needs to be done. I've watched them repeatedly do short-term fixes along the shoulders of Powers between Dublin and Constitution, and it just doesn't last. It needs to be done right.

Yes. Driving on Powers southbound from Dublin the surface is dreadful, almost causing a loss of steering control.

At least 50 years ago I heard my parents comment that you can always tell when it's election year....the roads get paved....

Maybe they'll extend the merge lane on southbound Powers from Dublin (Taco Bell). That is insanely short for merging in...either don't have a merge lane (that short) or extend it.

Oh, and what's with Dublin just west of Powers...two lane traffic for a couple of hundred yards with 6 lanes east of Powers and 4 lanes west of Bridle Pass. Strange...
