We had already been together for 10 years though, it was just a formality. He wanted it on paper before going off into the Army, it didn't make much difference to me, except for altering our tax status.

I'd suggest having all your guests bring their own digital cameras, and handing out some disposable ones to folks that don't have digitals. My wife and I did this and our wedding photos are the envy of most couples who paid upwards of 500 for "professional" photography. We have all the candid moments that bring back real memories instead of a few staged shots by some uptight ***. When one of my friends got married the photographer started pushing to make a big sale at the reception. I nearly picked the man up to take him into the bathroom for a swirly. It was the most unprofessional behavior I had seen in my life. I have never actually seen a "professional" do a good job. When my sister in law was married, it took 18 months for them to get the photos. I sent them a CD with photos and video of the event in under 2 weeks. Please consider dropping the photographer and putting the money towards your first home.

PS. You can use airbnb.com to find some houses available for rent.

I was going to suggest airbnb as well. Great minds think alike. As for photographer, have college daughter whose been shooting great portraits(gives you the digital files for printing) on the side for years, DM me for more info and her website, she's been wanting to do some weddings for experience. Combine that with lurtsman's guest photo ideas and you'll get some good classic shots as well as candids.

I know a couple people who had weddings at the Craftwood Inn in Manitou. Great place!
