We are headed to Springs today and had planned on going to Manitou to shop, Pikes Peak, Gardens of the Gods and CliffHouse for dinner and now due to fire our plans have been changed. Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives for these we will not be able to visit? Any similar areas like Manitou with shops to go to? We can venuture outside Springs and that is no problem. Thank you!

I saw on FB that Old Colorado City merchants are still open and hoping for business... might be an option to spend some time there, although it will be smoky.

If you have the time to drive an hour south, you could make the jaunt to Pueblo or Canon City - all attractions are still open in these areas.

In lieu of shopping in Manitou, try Old Colorado City. Very similar.

In lieu of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, try South Chetenne Canon and Helen Hunt Falls. Maybe the visitors center at the Air Force Academy or the Olympic Training Center.

Instead of Cliff House, try the Blue Star or Nosh.

Just saw on the news that many businesses in Manitou Springs are open and wanting your business! They said not many people there so parking is wide open.

Apparently, smoke situation is not bad at all at this point in time in Manitou Springs.

Helen Hunt Falls is closed while they are building the new visitor center there. All the hiking is open except the Falls. I concur with Old Colorado City, but the shops in Manitou just might be open - if so, check out the penny arcade while you're there!

I saw the same report. You can do OCC and Manitou in the same day easily.
