Post Affordable housing

My husband and I are looking to move out of California due to the fact that housing is outrageously overpriced out here. We have been researching Colorado and especially the Colorado Springs area, but would have to take a pay cut in order to move out that way. My question is, are we being naive to think that we can find a decent home (manufactured would be okay with us) in a good neighborhood for around 100-125K??

We are planning on coming out in a few months and stay in an apt. but will have to choose one sight unseen, are there any particular areas/zip codes that would be affordable and safe?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'm a little busy today so forgive the brevity of my post. You can find a good 2 br home in my neighborhood (The Westside) for about $130k - $150k. In a couple of months you'll prolly start to see the $125k mark become available.

G'luck!

Near the $100K price range and a very short commute would be some of the decent neighborhoods of Security and Widefield.

A little further South you can get a relatively new modular in the Midway area (I think it's mile marker 119 on I-25) with a few acres of land. Its a bit of commute (probably about 40 minutes) but its in the direction of less traffic.
