So, here goes nothing...

My husband and I moved to the area from the east coast about a month ago. So far, so good- until we found out my husband will be deploying by the end of the year. We've been here for such a short time and I'm really starting to worry. He will start work next week and I'm still looking, so we haven't made friends yet. I'm scared to deal with this deployment alone and I don't want to give up and move back home. I know this city has a lot to offer, I just don't know where to start. I'm 26, don't have children, really outgoing and super laid back. I'd love to have a solid group of (girl)friends that I can enjoy free time, grab a drink, and have a good laugh with. I hope this doesn't sound desperate- I'm just feeling lost.

I'm 27 with no kids, and i've been a mil wife for almost 5 years now. I don't know where you're stationed, but getting in touch with the spouse's club affiliated with your base is where I would start! I know fort carson and AFA have their own. I am the Special events chair for the Peterson, Schriever, and Cheynee Mtn bases, and I know we have a great group of girls. We have monthly socials, which are fun, but the best thing is the sub clubs....you can sign up for what you're interested in (i'm in running club, wine club, italian cooking, and book club, but there are a ton - bunco, bible study, bingo...anything you can think of). It's a wonderful way to meet other women who I guarantee are in the same boat as you - hoping to meet new people with similar interests. It's also a great way to stay informed regarding base events and resources.

We have a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/PSC-S...56971677718878
and a website: - Home

That you are welcome to join/check out. I know i sound like a solicitor, but I got here in June, and joining the club went a long way in helping me feel more at home in COS.
