Hello everybody. I'm planning to move to COS ( I'm from NJ) and I've been looking for a room for rent online for weeks now. I've tried Craigslist and local websites such as ColoradoSpringsSuperads, but my experience with them was rather frustrating and disappointing. I've been dealing with spammers, phishers, countless unanswered emails and I'm slowly getting tired of it. I was wondering if you could tell me if there are any websites not filled with garbage that I could check, or a local newspaper I could order. Thanks in advance.

Try the Gazette online under classified or real estate rentals:

Colorado Springs News & Information : Colorado Springs Gazette, CO

Good luck.

Also do a search of property management companies in town if you could use a small apartment rather than a room:

Another option is to start with an extended stay motel for a week or two while you look for better:

Someone offered me help in finding an apartment and a bed until I find one. So I'll be over there soon. Thanks for the tips, I should have looked at apartments earlier. They're about 40% of what we have to pay here, I just didn't think they would be this affordable, my bad. Thanks again.

I'm surprised you're not having any success with Craigslists.

When I moved here, I was able to sublet the upper level of a house (bedroom and bathroom), from a super nice older lady. She lived downstairs and I had the upstairs to myself. It ran me all of $300 a month, and was just a great deal. We got along great, and I was able to save a lot of money up to buy my first house.

I guess I got lucky.

So it turned out great. Being a heavy smoker adjusting to the altitude took about 5 days, but it's all normal now. I found an apartment near Fillmore and Chesnut and I'm absolutely loving Colorado Springs. Thanks again for help folks.
