Today I took a a day trip to Colorado Springs & wanted to share my pictures with everyone. The pictures include (in chronological order) my drive into Colorado Springs as seen from I-25, the Garden of the Gods, & downtown. I really enjoyed the city, it's very pretty! I hope to go back again soon. ![]() Southbound on I-25, just south of Castle Rock. Pikes Peak is off in the distance, a good 50 miles away. ![]() Control Tower for the USAF Academy airfield, seen from the scenic overlook on I-25 at about MP152. This airfield is used by prop planes only, no jets. Primary training observed here are gliders being towed up to teach the basics of flight, and skydiving. Behind the photographer is the shops at Briargate, where people may sit and watch the gliders and skydivers. Visitor entrance to the USAF Academy is at exit 156 of I-25. ![]() Several photo's of Garden of the Gods, a free city park, in the city. Great spot for walking, cycling, horseback riding and rock climbing (permit required). A couple from Duluth, MN, rock climbers, recently wed atop one of the formations. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pikes Peak in the distance, from Garden of the Gods. ![]() South Nevada St, looking north. Clock tower on left is the Pioneer Museum, once the city courthouse. ![]() ![]() The scale of this city is not overwhelming, there are very few tall buildings here, and lots of interesting structures. ![]() Bijou St at Tejon, looking west at the Front Range. I-25 is a half mile ahead. A city park is on the right. The private Colorado College is just a short walk north (to the right of the viewer) up Tejon or Cascade. ![]() Still on Bijou, now at Tejon. The dogs are tied up at a Starbucks. ![]() Mild weather in November. Weather changes often here, can be much colder the next day. ![]() Looking south on Tejon St, which can rightly be called "the street of many restaurants." ![]() Parking is rather easy here. Meters take dimes and quarters, are free after 6PM. ![]() Finer architectural touches not usually seen these days. ![]() One of several Old Chicago Bar & Grill locations around town, Old Chicago Website ![]() The downtown is very walkable. I went to Garden of the Gods on Saturday morning and thought I'd post my pictures here. I used to hate snow in the Midwest, it only made for a difficult commute. I love the snow in Colorado, it makes the mountains utterly majestic. I'll be sad to see winter go.

I found Old Town Colorado recently. Actually, I found it while getting lost this past weekend. Common event in my life! What a wonderful street - great shops & nice place to simply walk around. Thought I'd share my photos.
