Default School Districts

Why are some given an alphanumeric name (D-20, D-38, etc...) and some given names such as Colorado Springs, Lewis & Palmer, etc??

Each School District (SD) has both a name and a number, though they're may be exceptions around the state.

D20 is Academy SD
D38 is Lewis Palmer SD
D11 is the main Colorado Springs city SD
D12 is Cheyenne SD
D49 is Falcon SD

Most people consider D20, D38 and D12 the best SDs. Schools in D11 are a mix of excellent, average and a few so-so.

Using the Search Tool with any of the terms will get you a ton of info that is already here on these SDs.
