Hello,

My husband is going to take a position in Pueblo, CO and we plan on living in Colorado Springs. We have two children 8 and 11 and would love some advice on where we should live to get our kids into the best schools. Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Nearly all the public schools are good locally. The favorites seem to be District 12, District 20, District 38, and Palmer/Doherty/Coronado High Schools in D11. The most likely to be recommended to avoid (and pretty much the only one) is Harrison District 2. You could choose a district not mentioned here and still be great.

Look at Fountain, CO, on the south end of COLO SPGS, be sure to get into the D8 school district.

Use ppar.com for rentals.

Thanks so much - do you know anything about Pueblo education - that is where my husband will be working, but from the looks of the sites it did not look like the schools were highly rated. Also my kids swim competitively and the team they are on right now - the coaches are very good - and most of the kids end up swimming college. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

IIRC, the schools in Pueblo proper aren't that highly rated, but check out the schools in Pueblo West, they might be a better choice.

Pueblo West is also a very good choice for living; but you may want to rent somewhere for a year to really learn the region.

Pueblo west is fairly nice. Given the difference in commute, you might want to check it out.

What's your housing budget? I know several doctors who commute from the springs to pueblo and live in D 12 for schools.

I believe Cheyenne Mountain HS has a good swimming program.
