Hello All,

My girlfriend and I are planning to relocate to Colorado Springs for work. We will be working in north east Colorado Springs, north of Garden of the Gods, and south of the academy. We are looking for a nice two bedroom apartment preferably with hardwood floors and an updated kitchen. We have looked around online and have not seen anything that really stands out to us. Hopefully someone here will have a recommendation on a nice modern complex. We would like to be with in a 20 minute drive of the area as well. Thank you all in advance.

Jordan

Look in padmapper.com for places up along 30th St and/or in the Rockrimmon area. Read and heed the warnings about scammers on craigslist.

Thank you for the insight. We would prefer an actual apartment complex over owner rented if possible. But we are open to any suggestions.

Thanks Again,
Jordan

Try contacting camelback. I don't know if they have hardwood floors, but they aren't too far from the freeway and have some very nice apartments. If you looked at owner-rented, you'd get more for your money, but it's your decision. Those really nice apartment complexes can get very expensive, but coming from NY you probably know what it's like to spend a small fortune on rent

Oh believe me the rent here is crazy. We do not mind spending the money on rent if it is a nice place. For us personally a 2 bedroom below $2200 is a great price. So if you happen to know the names of those higher end "luxury" apartments please let us know. We will also look at your recommendation. Thank you.

Jordan: For $2200 a month, here, you can get a superb SFH, not just an apartment. Maybe you'd like to consider that; if so, ppar.com has rental homes listed.

We have seen a lot of options but from previous rental experiences we prefer to deal with companies opposed to individual property owners. Thank you for your input.

If it is a rental listed on ppar.com like Mike suggested, it will be listed through agent/property management companies whether it is a single family home, or a condo, townhouse etc. Individual property owners do not list there.

Often there are people that need to relocate but plan on returning to the area and don't want to sell their home so they contract with a management company or a leasing agent to take care of leasing and managing it. There is one such home in my neighborhood, the owner is an Air Force officer and is in Hawaii for two years. Their house is a beautiful 1930's home that they did extensive renovation to and they plan on living there again once they return to Colorado. Currently it is rented to a visiting professor at Colorado College, I believe that home is managed through Bennett Shellenberger Realty, they manage quite a few properties around town.

Of course with a single family home often as a renter you will be responsible for some yard upkeep (watering, mowing, snow removal) so if you don't want to mess with that, a good apartment complex would be a better option. An upscale complex like this is located in the area you are looking at: The Oasis Apartment Homes and also http://www.springcanyonco.com/ and http://www.grandcentennialapartments.com/ and this is complex that was mentioned earlier http://www.camelbackpointeapartments.com/

These are under a 20 minute drive Talon Hill Apartment Rentals And University Park Colorado Springs Apartments | Resort at University Park in Colorado Springs, CO 80918 In fact there are some very nice modern apartment communities on the north east/Northgate end of town and these should all be within a 20 minute drive.

The Oasis is nice enough, but no hardwood or granite in the kitchen. We lived there temporarily.
