We're in the market for pre-1930's homes near downtown, and the market hasn't seemed to pick up yet from the typical winter lull. Is there an obvious bump up normally in spring or early-summer like most states? If so, when does that typically happen? We are hoping to time a 2-3 week house hunting trip around that time.

Yes there is, though I'm not a real estate agent. Two years ago when we sold our house we rolled the dice and listed it in October and it sold in June or July.

Here is a chart of the number of new single home listings in El Paso County from Jan 2013 through January this year. As I recall, listings picked up just after tax time last year.

Thanks Beezle. This matches my experience with prepayments on mortgage derivatives. Seems Spring picks up on housing listings and sales in most of the country.
